Get ready to watch Asia Cup 2023 live on YuppTV from August 30 to September 17, and enjoy nonstop cricket coming your way. Co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the Asia Cup will have six nations fight for the coveted title. As the marquee event is all set to begin tomorrow, let us look at the latest news and updates.

For the first time in its four-decade history, Asia Cup is hosted by multiple nations. Although the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) designated Pakistan to host this edition, Sri Lanka was chosen as another host as the Indian team has expressed concerns about traveling to Pakistan for safety reasons. ACC decided to follow a hybrid model for the first time. Besides the hosts Pakistan and Sri Lanka, four other Asian teams, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal, will participate in the tournament.

As the championship rotates between ODI and T20 formats alternately, the 2023 edition takes place in the ODI format. The tournament will have six teams divided into two groups, Group A and B.

Group A: India, Pakistan and Nepal

Group B: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan

There will be 13 matches, including 6 group stages, 6 Super 4s, and one final. Every team will play against every other in the group stage once in a round-robin format. The two best-performing teams in this stage will qualify for Super 4s. The top two teams from the Super 4 stage will enter the final.

India’s star batter, KL Rahul, is likely to miss the Ind vs Pak game due to the niggle after his surgery. Ishan Kishan is expected to keep the wickets. Also, the Indian team picked Sanju Samson as backup for KL Rahul. India’s head coach Rahul Dravid confirmed that KL Rahul will be unavailable for the first two games as the team does not want to take any risk with him.

Injuries have hit the Sri Lankan camp as most of their star players might be unavailable for the Asia Cup. Leg-spinning all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, Pacers Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Madushanka, and Lahiru Kumara are among these suffered injuries. Binura Fernando and Pramod Madushan are included to replace them.
